  1. Do not smoke (prevent all forms of smoking e.g active, passive and third hand smoke)
  2. Cover cough and sneeze (Put cloth on face while coughing or sneezing)
  3. Convert your fireplace (use LPG or electric for cooking in spite of woods)
  4. Regular aerobic exercise
  5. Beware of outdoor air pollution and aeroallergens (don’t go in crowded places while epidemics of influenza. Don’t go in highly air polluted areas)
  6. Improve indoor air (Clean houses form inhaled allergens)
  7. Get vaccinated for common chest infections
  8. Take healthy food ( A balanced diet with a high intake of fruit, vegetables and fish reduces the risk of developing lung diseases, especially asthma and COPD)
  9. Drink water:Staying hydrated is crucial to lung health, especially if you suffer from COPD or asthma.
  10. Know the warning signs– If you have a cough for more than a month, or if you have a hard time breathing with little or no physical exertion, you should consult your pulmonologist. Wheezing, coughing up blood, or coughing up phlegm for more than a month are also problematic, and if you have chest pain lasting a month or longer, get it checked out, particularly if breathing in or coughing makes it worse.
